Girl’s Best Friend

Lingerie.

You might have a different view but who will be there for you through thick and thin? Who is the one that will complement you according to your emotion? Who is the person that will protect and "lift" you up when you feel absolutely down? Who is there to fight gravity for you? Who is there with you when share your intimate moments? Say no more. Lingerie.

Historically, lingerie is a piece of linen used to cover up women body because they are ashamed to flaunt it and the society condemned the sight of a woman's curve. Today, we are lucky to live in the evolution of lingerie where lingerie is a piece of clothing that both woman and man enjoy. Inside or Outside. They indulge in Lingerie.

Malaysian women have also started to understand the beauty of lingerie. We see more ladies and guys entering the lingerie shop and lingerie business blooming everywhere. That means, Malaysian women are buying lingerie. Have you ever ponder the real reason for this lingerie trend? There is none. I can say one thing though, Malaysian women have more buying power now. They know how to pamper themselves. They know how to flaunt the best of their body. However, there are still a lot to learn about lingerie.

So why does one buy a lingerie?

I categorized lingerie to its purpose

1) Occasion

2) Function

3) Indulgence

We buy lingerie to fit certain occasion and to complement with our outerwear. A newlywed couple will choose to buy sensational lingerie for their honeymoon night. To be dashing in a party, you will buy a piece of lustrous bra with peacock seam that you can flaunt under that deep V-neck dress. As for function, mommy with nursing bra, active sports woman with functional sports bra and etc. Indulgence…well, simply to spoil ourselves with the luxurious feeling of satin baby doll, or lazing around on a Sunday afternoon with your sheer nightie (just make sure your window is not offering LIVE telecast for your neighbour)

So ladies, there is always one good reason for you to pick up a piece of lingerie in the shop or Click that BUY button online. To buy lingerie one does not need a good reason. You do not need a reason to be with your best friend.

Enjoy shopping~

Size does matter?

I find it extremely hard to write about this subject. I don't know why. Now before you have that grin on your face, I'm talking about woman ideal body size. Every since young, we are fed to believe that if you want to look good, you need to be skinny. It's all over tabloid and popularized by idols of the world. Even fairy tales mislead children to believe fat is bad. Cinderella has a fat ugly stepsister, the Queen of hearts in Wonderland is a fat wicked woman and not to forget Ursula in Mermaid. Heroines are pretty, kind hearted souls. So, I grew up with diet routines and skipping meals simply because I do not want to be fat. Honestly, the idiot box also has been very deceptive. Advertisement manipulates consumer's belief that all pretty things are good things. Even ads about sinful food, models have to be skinny, pretty and flawless. "So do you mean if I eat a tub of ice cream, I can still be skinny like the model??" Really? Is that necessary? Ohh yes, it is definitely necessary! You will not buy that ice cream if a plus size model is in it.

I'm blessed to have an average figure but no matter what, I still find myself incomparable to those moving fashion hangers strutting on the runway. " I want to look like her in that dress" How many of us think like that?? Of course there is another motivation factor to be skinny. Men. Before you squall, just flip through your GQ or go through your screen savers. You will know what I'm talking about. It's good to see and best to have but not necessary to own one.

The reason of this thought arises when I read an article from The Lingerie Post about plus size lingerie ads. FOX and ABC refuse to show Plus Size Lingerie Ad with the reason "too much cleavage"! What do you think? I cannot agree more plus size lingerie is more provocative as it portrays the sensuality of these curvaceous women. But that is simply the beauty of being a plus size. Just imagine the "frontal view" you get. Besides, who can be the best model for plus size lingerie if it's not a plus size model?

In Malaysia, unfortunately lingerie advertisement is never air in TV. Even on printed media, all pictures need to be airbrushed. But how many times we see an airbrushed plus size lingerie ad? WE only pick the lanky, skinny –anorexic model for any lingerie photoshoot. But why? If we want the lingerie to exude sensuality of a woman's curve, we should use a plus size model. They can give you curves too. Nevertheless, we opt to have skinny models. At the end of the day, it is still a piece of lingerie. Why ban plus size ads while the skinny models ads strut the same stuff?

We are just normal human beings. Being in all shapes and sizes do not mean you cannot indulge in anything that makes you feel beautiful. Every woman has her right to indulge in sensuality regardless of their body size. Lingerie is a girl's best friend and it is supposed to make you feel good and confident about your body. When you have the confidence, you shine! So to all the plus size model of your own, don't be afraid to flaunt it! That is the beauty of LINGERIE.

Bra, Panty and Me

I’m no lingerie expert. I’m not a trend setter either. I’m just like you. A girl that spent her 2 decades trying to figure out what is lingerie. I hope to share my stories and my thoughts here with all the damsels in distress. I might or might not be able to help but at least you know you are not alone

Ha…Lingerie! I have my embarrassing moments with this French lingo. LING-E-LEE ! That was my first embarrassing moments…I have no idea how to pronounce it and to make things worse, I was corrected in public and was crowned Jester of the day. Well, I had my bad times. My ladies, don’t fret. You are really not alone. Since then, I have never been able to get away from it. You love it and yet you hate it too( More stories to be posted in this blog that means)

Before I start the stories from my puberty age, I should say my 2 years experience with lingerie in details have really open up my eyes to things that I could not imagine myself doing it.

I’m a Microbiologist. I sell lingerie.

This is my story.

Underneath it all...........

This is life.
What lies underneath is the truth,
The bare naked truth...

Stee's monologue starts here with the unmentionables.
